Diwali is a unique festival in the sense that we deliberately expose ourselves to a number of health risks.
Greatest risk is to our lungs where all the fumes and toxic heavy metals emitted from endless firecrackers deposited , those who are already having lungs related trouble show the symptoms earlier than the normal people.Difficulty in breathing, dry cough, sneezing, chest pain ,attacks of asthma are the warning signs.see your chest physician.
Second most commonly effected part of our body is skin. Acute burn cases are very common after depawali, accidental burn due to firecracker has to be managed immediately , wash the part with running cold water several times, to remove all the toxic debris, use ice or cold water to compress or soak the area ,ice reduces the chance of blister formation, use antibiotic cream like silverex, see your skin doctor next day.
Skin allergies are also very common after dipawali,it can be immediate like itching ,rashes etc. or it can be delayed by several days, avoid allergy, after touching firecrackers dont touch your other boby parts, especially face ,untill and unless you have washed your hands thouroghly.
Avoid high sound crackers , little children in home are very sensitive to sound vibration , firecracker can cause temporary or sometimes permanent eardrum damage and hearing impairment . you might need to see you ENT specialist for ear problems.
Continuously seeing bright light of illuminating crackers can damage sensitive retina of younger children, you might want to see you ophthalmologist after celebrating deepawali night.
we wish all of you a very happy dipawali , and we wish that you would never need any of the specialist mentioned above.
